About Butch
I'm Butch, a 7-year-old, solidly built gentleman with a calm soul and a steady outlook on life. I don't rush through my days - I prefer a good routine, a comfortable place to rest, and the quiet joy of being close to my people while we go about our lives together.
I enjoy my walks, I settle well, and I carry myself with a bit of old-school dignity. I'm well past the puppy chaos and much happier in a peaceful, predictable home. I'd be best suited to a family with older children, and I'd really like to be your one and only dog - I shine brightest when I don't have to share my space. If you work full-time, that's okay with me, as long as my days have structure and my evenings end with companionship and kindness.
I do need to be honest with you, because trust matters to me.
While in care, I had multiple masses surgically removed, and one of these was a cutaneous melanoma, which is suspected to behave aggressively. I've also had masses removed before coming into care, but the results of those are unknown. Because of this, there is a real possibility that more tumours could develop, or that cancer could progress in ways we can't yet see.
Right now, I'm comfortable and enjoying life - but my adoption is considered palliative. That means what I need most isn't cures or big interventions, but regular veterinary care, close monitoring, and someone who will always put my comfort and quality of life first. Some people may choose to consult a veterinary oncologist, and that option can be discussed with your vet if it feels right for you.
When the time comes that my condition can no longer be managed comfortably, it's important that I'm given the kindest gift of all - a peaceful goodbye, free from suffering.
All future veterinary care will be your responsibility, but in return, I promise to give you something incredibly special: quiet loyalty, gentle companionship, and a heart that will be deeply grateful for every day you choose me.
If you're looking for a stocky, soft-hearted gentleman who values peace, routine, and meaningful connection - and if you're able to walk beside me for however long my journey lasts - I'd be honoured to call you my person.
With love,
Butch
