About Polly
Hi! I’m Polly and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR POLLY
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/3gU3BEzazSDMst6S7
NOTE: You are unable to meet Polly until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Polly in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family and not left outside 24/7 with no interaction.
• I enjoy the company of other dogs my own size but am NOT keen on bigger dogs
• Being a social and playful pupper I would love to go to doggy daycare
• NO CATS, I did not seem comfortable around them. Given the opportunity, I may find it fun to chase if they tested me.
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• A family who promises to keep me well-groomed and brush me regularly so I’m always looking and feeling my best
• Lots of love and attention
• No young children as I can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and little ones may accidently scare me. Older children who will be involved with my training should be ok
• I can be shy at first, so I need a family who’ll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time
• TRAINING TRAINING TRAINING. It's ESSENTIAL I receive training in all aspects of my life so I can be the best dog I can be when I'm older.
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
My best features:
• Very playful
• Wiggle butt
• I love attention, hugs, kisses & head scratches
• Exuberant & full of beans
Where I need to improve / Training required:
• I will require full basic training as I've had no training experience yet
• I am shy at first with new people and in new environments so will require a family who will take their time allowing me to settle in and continue with my socialization
• I need further training on my recall as I can ignore you if you're trying to call me back to you
• I can sometimes initially be shy and try to avoid things going over my head (lead etc). It doesn't take long for me warm up and my excitable & full of life nature to come out.
• I am social with other friendly dogs however I will react if they are too full on or reactive to me, further socialisation is recommended.
• I appear to have issues with resource guarding when it comes to some high value treats around other dogs but not people (that I’ve shown). I will need some training to help fix and to get rid of this behaviour. I will happily give you the toy or treat I am guarding for something of higher value. With commitment and time, we will be able to work on this
