About Maximus
Maximus didn't have the easiest start. Life on the streets takes its toll, and when he first came into care he was understandably overwhelmed and highly stressed. But wow ... give a cat time, patience, and kindness, and sometimes magic happens.
As time went on, Maximus slowly began to exhale. The tension melted away. The defensive behaviours faded. In their place emerged a gentle and genuinely lovely boy who wants to connect with people. Watching him blossom has been one of those reminders of why second chances matter so much.
Maximus was adopted but sadly returned when it became clear he didn't want to share his home with other pets. He ADORES people and needs a home where he can be doted on as the one and only- the true king of his castle, showering you with love and loyalty in return.
Maximus is FIV-positive, which sounds scarier than it is. FIV cats can live long, happy, and normal lives, and the virus is only spread through deep bite wounds - not through sharing food bowls, cuddling, or general day-to-day contact. He would be best suited as an only cat, or with another FIV-positive cat, and our team is always happy to talk you through what living with an FIV cat looks like.
He does have a few minor pre-existing conditions, nothing that stops him from enjoying life, and we're more than happy to chat through all of that openly so you know exactly what you're signing up for. Like many cats who've come from hard beginnings, Maximus may regress slightly when he first goes home. A new environment can be a big adjustment. But you won't be doing it alone - we're here to support you every step of the way, because we know just how far this boy has already come.
Maximus is living proof that when you give a cat the chance to feel safe, their true personality shines through. He's done the hard work. Now he's ready for someone to see him for who he really is - a loving boy who just needed a second chance.
Maximus is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment.
