Kiki

Kiki is a loveable purr-baby with a grumpy streak. She would make the perfect companion for someone who dreams of having a lap-cat for a companion.

Personality
Kiki is an extrovert who thrives on being next to her human whenever possible (this includes in the garden, the toilet and bathroom). She is used to her human being at work all day during the week, but would love it if her human worked from home.
She has a strong will and will let you know that she is unpleased when she is made to do something that she doesn’t want to (hiss).
She loves being patted, but will give a soft mouth to your hand if you don’t pay attention to her ‘stop’ cues (tail twitching and mewing).
If you are sitting or lying down on the couch, Kiki takes that as an invite to cuddle up and sleep on you, where she will purr away.
Kiki will not be her best during the first month at her new home – do not expect her to be. She may be hissy and go for the occasional swipe, but this is not her true nature – she is a purr-baby.
Kiki loves to sleep on the bed with you, usually near your feet or by your pillow.

Food
Kiki is food motivated and loves all foods.
She is currently on 2 x ¼ cups of Royal Canin Dental to maintain her Ragdoll Teeth.
Once or twice a week she gets a serving of wet food. She is not fussy about what type – but currently on meat and gravy (Fancy Feast)
Kiki loves all treats – the liquid type in little pouches or the Treaties.
Kiki is the type of cat who will eat other pet’s food if it is available, so be mindful of that when designing her space.

Health and Fitness
Kiki is an active cat and needs mental stimulation – treats that are scattered around her main space, paper balls (she LOVES those!), a cat tunnel which she loves to play with you in if you have a ribbon or shoelace. She is also a big fan of a laser pointer toy.

Grooming
Ragdolls need to be groomed regularly to keep their long coats looking good. Kiki likes having her back brushed but is unpleased when you brush her belly or the long hair behind her legs.
Kiki sings the song of her people when you attempt to trim her nails. It is manageable, but you may consider a groomer for the nails and underbelly if you don’t feel comfortable holding a growling hissing cat.
If you use a collar on Kiki, it is recommended to use one with tight-woven material. A looser-woven collar caused knotting of her hair around her neck.
Kiki loves a good chin, ear or head scritch, and patting of the back. She is still getting used to people touching her paws.

Household
Kiki prefers to be the solo queen of her castle where she doesn’t have to share her human’s love.
Though a tiny little thing for a Ragdoll, she exhibits territorial behaviour when she has to share her human with other cats including frequently chasing them and going for the odd swipe and bite.
Kiki spent a week with three boys aged 3-10 years old. She sought her own space when they were noisy, but when they were calm she lay by them on the couch or played. Children need to be cat-savvy though and be able to read her signals for when she has had enough as she will attempt a soft mouthing if she is patted beyond her limit.
Kiki is learning to show more spatial awareness around people’s feet, so would be okay with a senior person.
Couch covers or anti-scratching spray will be needed as Kiki settles in and learns where her scratching posts are located around the house.
Kiki is litter-trained and is currently using ‘Breeder’s Choice’ cat litter. She should have access to two litter trays. A litter mat would also be helpful as she is a scatterer of litter on the carpet.

Quirks that still make Kiki deserving of love
Kiki communicates that she is hungry or needs to be let outside by scraping her paws against the bedding or carpet. She doesn’t use mewing to communicate this.
Kiki loves to show her affection for her human by washing their hand or arm during the night. She is learning that not everyone appreciates this type of love.
