About Mabel
Hi! I'm Mabel and I'm looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR MABEL
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/F56ghrHvViUVWANaA
NOTE: You are unable to meet Mabel until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Mabel in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• I am a shy girl who needs a family that will help show me that the world isn't such a scary place, I would benefit from going to a home with another dog who is confident to help me become the confident dog I know I can be but my family will also need to be kind and patient with me while im learning about this big world I live in.
• I like both friendly male and female dogs
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• I appeared scared of cats when meeting them at the shelter however once my confidence around them grows I might be more inquisitive. If going to a home with a cat they must be dog savvy and we must be introduced slowly.
• TRAINING TRAINING TRAINING. It's ESSENTIAL I receive training in all aspects of my life so I can be the best dog I can be.
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
Things that I don't want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• Young children, I am a timid girl and loud noises/sudden movements startle me so young kids wouldn't be suitable for me but older kids who understand my nervousness would be fine.
My best features:
• food motivated
• Gentle & placid
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans once I get to know you.
• Happy to hang out with other friendly dogs
• Love to snooze on the couch
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I will require full basic training as I've had no training experience yet
• I am timid in new situations such as entering a building/home. I MUST have a family who'll allow me inside so I can see it isn't a scary place and to allow my confidence to grow.
• I've only just learnt to walk on the lead since being at the shelter so I'm still a bit erratic but lots of walks will help me learn how to be great on the lead.
• I can sometimes initially be shy and try to avoid things going over my head (lead etc). It doesn't take long for me warm up and my excitable & full of life nature to come out
