About Buddy
Hi, my name is Buddy.
I am on older cat who has come into care through no fault of my own. Lives change. Circumstances shift. And suddenly I am a cat who has known love and routine finding myself starting over. It's scary.
I am a gentle boy with very puffy cheeks and eyes that seem to stop people in their tracks. I am still figuring the world out but I am doing my best every single day.
I am happiest when things are calm and predictable. Other cats make me nervous, and I tend to hiss make a bit of noise and then disappear to a safe hiding spot. Because of that I would really love to be an only cat, or live with another cat who is very relaxed and kind, and not in my face. Honestly though being your one and only would suit me perfectly.
Dogs were scary at first. I let everyone know how I felt about that. But I have been living around two small dogs and I am getting better with time. Big dogs might be a bit much for me so slow introductions would matter a lot.
People though. People are my favourite. I am very good with new faces and I will come out for a pat when I see you approaching. I am happy to be picked up cuddled and told I am a good boy. I might be unsure at first but once I realise you are kind I lean right in. When you pat me I purr like crazy. No subtlety at all.
I have not spent time around children so that part is a bit of an unknown. I do great with adults and I think a quieter home would suit me best while I continue to build my confidence.
I am very polite with my litter tray and have perfect manners there. My favourite toys are little balls. I love chasing them and batting them around when I am feeling brave and playful.
I do have some anxiety especially around other cats and new situations. I hide when I feel overwhelmed but I am learning that good things happen when I come out. Brushing is not my favourite thing yet but I am improving and tolerating it more as I learn to trust.
I am a beautiful boy with a soft heart. I just need someone patient who will let me be myself and give me the time and love to really settle in.
If you do, I promise those purrs will be worth it.
