Barkley is an extremely friendly, affectionate young boy who is destined to be a very large lap dog. He adores his people and truly lives up to the title of man’s best friend — with his love of food coming in a close second!
Still a puppy, Barkley is gaining confidence every day. New environments can make him a little unsure at first, and when nervous he can occasionally live up to his namesake — but his confidence is growing quickly with positive experiences. He currently has a smaller buddy in foster care and plays beautifully with her.
Barkley is learning his basic commands, walks reasonably well on lead, and his recall is improving. He is mostly house trained, though he’s still polishing his manners and can’t yet be trusted around unattended food — those long legs already know their way onto kitchen counters, and he’s been caught in a few cheeky situations!
He’s crate trained, eager to please, and full of classic puppy enthusiasm. Barkley can be excitable, is still learning not to jump up, and loves giving kisses to both humans and dogs. He is very affectionate and completely unaware of just how big he is.
Barkley is happy being left in the garden with his puppy housemate and has started showing early signs of being a good little watchdog — including making sure the postie knows who’s house he’s visiting.
Car rides are a favourite; Barkley is a great traveller and will either stretch out and relax or happily sit watching the world go by.
With continued training, guidance, and lots of love, Barkley will make a wonderful addition to a household ready for a big, affectionate, food-loving puppy who will grow into a loyal companion.
Barkley is $350 + $100 desex bond* to adopt and comes microchipped, C5 vaccinated, and given flea/tick/worm prevention.
*Desex bond will be refunded once pup is desexed at one of our nominated vets at the appropriate age. It is a non-negotiable conditions of adoption that pups are desexed prior to 8 months of age, unless otherwise approved by NQAR. The cost of desexing is included in the adoption fee, as long as it is done at one of our nominated vets.
