About Sookie
This girl was rescued from a pound where she was wetting herself with fear when first approached. She is now  living with 2 other female dogs (8 and 9 years old) and a family that includes 3 small children (nearly 2, 4 and nearly 6 years).
Such an amazing transformation - foster carers are gold âď¸
Sookie is a very sweet girl who loves a cuddle and to be around humans and dogs. She is really gentle and patient with children.
She is fast and loves running and playing  tug-o-war,Â
Since being in care, she has learnt to sit, wait, come when called, stay outside when she is told, and listens when told to hop back (mainly around food).
Sookie has been sleeping inside & adapting well đĄ. She is house trained âď¸.Â
She has settled so well into care and has no anxiety, even when her carers leave to go out. She has only barked once but is otherwise a quiet girl.Â
Sookie doesnât like being washed but we think with some gentle introductions and time she will come around.Â
She did better standing in a warm bath.Â
Sookie needs a home that will continue her lead and obedience training. She would thrive with a family (even with small children), or someone who is maybe a younger retiree and around more often.Â
Sookie  would enjoy a nice, calm doggie companion â ideally one who is neutral or submissive as she gets scared when they are a bit too much đđž.
Not tested with cats.
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions.
Adoption details
We list animals for adoption on Pet Rescue as well as on our own Animals-in-Need-Brisbane website. We talk with people who contact about an animal to see what their needs and situation are. Our emphasis is on getting the right animal for the people and the right people for the animal. If everyone's needs are met things usually work out well.
If the situation sounds good we arrange a meeting. If all goes well we let people try the animal out for a couple of weeks to ensure that everyone is happy.
We keep records of all adopters, follow up to ensure all is well and undertake to take back any animal if circumstances change.
