Smokey is a Beagle x Collie, born 8 October 2020 (desexed and microchipped (991003000586969).
Smokey originally came into our care after his owner sadly passed away. He has since been living in Victoria in a loving family home with young children and another dog..
About Smokey
Smokey is a big-hearted, people-focused boy who absolutely thrives on human companionship. He is an inside dog who loves being close to his person and will happily follow you around the house. His favourite things include:
• Going for walks
• Snuggling on the couch
• Car rides
• And most of all… food 🍗
He is a smart dog, but stubborn when food is involved. He knows his basics and has had some obedience training, however he needs a home that can consistently uphold boundaries every day.
🐕 Social & Training History
• Has lived with another dog
• Attended doggy daycare and kennel staycations
• Enjoys playing with other dogs and is generally sociable
• Can sometimes play a little rough, but responds well to supervision
• Walks well once he’s settled into the walk (he pulls initially and is a strong 33kg boy, but tires fairly quickly)
🏡 Why Smokey Needs a New Home
Smokey has developed resource guarding / food-related behaviours, which have become difficult to manage alongside another dog in the home. For this reason, he is seeking a more suitable environment where his needs can be met long-term.
👶 Children & Home Environment
Smokey is currently living with young children, however due to his:
• Mouthiness when excited
• Sensitivity around personal space when resting
• Food guarding behaviours
A home with children aged 12+ is recommended, or adults only. He needs people who understand dog boundaries and are confident managing behaviours.

✔️ Happy to continue training and structure
Other Notes
• Toilet trained (occasional accidents)
• No fence jumping or digging
• Not tested with cats
• Loves attention and being part of daily life

Smokey is a loyal, affectionate, fun-loving dog who bonds deeply with his people. With the right structure, patience, and understanding, he will make an incredibly rewarding companion. He simply needs a home a home without other dogs or young children.

Adoption details
Our Adoption Process 🐾
We aim to make the adoption process smooth and supportive, while ensuring every pet is placed in a safe, loving home.
1. Application
• Complete our application form in full.
• Include photos of your secure fencing, yard, and where the pet will sleep.
• Applications without photos will not be considered - you may send photos via email.
2. Review
• A team member will contact you to discuss your application.
3. Agreement & Identification
• If approved, you’ll receive an adoption agreement to sign and return.
• Proof of address must be provided with your application or at the meet-and-greet.
4. Meet & Greet / Transport
• A meet-and-greet will be arranged, or transport organised to your home.
5. Trial period: 14 days
6. Adoption Finalisation
• Once successful, adoption is completed and your new family member officially becomes yours.
