If you’re looking for a companion who embodies peace, love, and the perfect belly rub, look no further than Athena. This stunning girl is the definition of "low maintenance, high affection." She is a calm, trusting soul who just wants to be your best friend (at ground level!).
✨ The Athena Experience
Athena is a total love-bug with a heart of gold. She doesn’t need to be soaring through the air or zooming down hallways; she’s much more interested in a slow-paced life filled with pets.
The "Belly Rub" Queen: Unlike many cats, the belly isn't a trap with Athena! She is obsessed with belly rubs, chin scratches, and head butts. 😻
Ground Control: Athena is a "four paws on the floor" kind of girl. While she isn't a fan of being carried around, she will stay by your side for hours as long as she’s standing on her own two feet. 🐾
The Purr Factory: Her motor is always running! She is incredibly trusting and settles into a rhythm of purrs the moment you start showing her love.
💤 Lifestyle & Favourites
Energy Level: Low. Athena is a professional lounger. 😴
Favourite Spot: She loves to sprawl out right on the floor. If there’s a sunbeam hitting the carpet, she’ll be in it all day! ☀️
Playtime: She hasn’t shown much interest in feathers or balls, she prefers spending her time "mothering" her toys (her babies) and keeping them close. 🧸
Confidence: While the vacuum or loud bangs might send her to a hiding spot, she’s a brave girl who pops right back out for more pats the second the coast is clear. 🦁
🏡 Athena’s Ideal Home
Athena is the ultimate "easy" cat. She is independent enough to handle a 9-to-5 workday but loving enough to make your evenings feel magical.
Social Life: She gets along great with other cats! However, she is also perfectly content being the "Solo Queen" of her castle. 👑
The Perfect Person: Someone who appreciates a calm presence and has a hand free for constant head butts and scratches.
Home Vibe: She doesn't need a library-quiet house, but she’d appreciate a family that understands she needs a quick hidey-hole when the vacuum comes out.

Adoption details
Our adoption process is as follows:
1. Submit an adoption application via our website at www.rescuecatsofmelbourne.com.au/adopt
2. We will be in touch with you within 48 hours if we wish to progress your application.
3. A meet and greet will then be organised so that you can meet your potential new family member!
4. Upon a successful meet and greet, an adoption day will be set for you to come and collect your new family member and sign all required paperwork
All of our cats come de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea treated, worm treated and with a clean bill of health.
Our 10-Day Health Guarantee: We want you to feel confident in your new family member’s health. We offer a 10-day cooling-off period specifically for health-related concerns. If your kitten shows signs of a pre-existing illness (such as a respiratory infection or parasite) within the first 10 days of arriving home, please contact us immediately. During this window, you have the option to return the kitten for a full refund or work with our rescue team to ensure the kitten receives the necessary care. We are committed to transparency and the wellbeing of our cats.
