About Max
Meet Max, the sweetest 11 month old mixed breed pup with a gentle heart and a whole lot of potential.
He's medium sized, soft eyed, and quietly hoping for a family who can help him blossom into the confident dog he's meant to be.
Max is a gentle soul who's still learning that the world is a safe place. New environments can feel a bit overwhelming for him, so he's searching for a calm, patient home that understands the beauty of slow, steady progress.
With reassurance, routine, and kindness, he opens up in the most heart melting ways.
One thing that brings Max pure joy is other dogs. He absolutely lights up around canine friends and would thrive with a confident, friendly doggy companion to show him the ropes!
Watching him follow another dog's lead is like watching a little spark turn into a warm glow.
Because he's still learning life's ropes, Max is best suited to a home without young children. He'll do wonderfully with adults or older teens who can give him encouragement, and gentle guidance.
If you're the kind of person who celebrates small victories, loves watching a shy pup come out of his shell, and believes in the magic of second chances, Max might be your perfect match.
He's ready for a family who will cheer him on, help him grow, and love him for the sweet boy he is.
Max is waiting for someone to say, "You're safe now." Maybe that someone is you.

We would love to see Max adopted into a wonderful home, or into a Foster-To-Adopt home for residents within the City of Greater Bendigo. With behavioral advice available 24/7 from PetCademy, along with ongoing support from the Bendigo Animal Relief Centre. ❤️
To book a meet and greet with Max please phone 5441-2209 or email barcreception@bendigo.vic.gov.au .
Due to the high volume of emails received, enquiries with a request for a specific appointment with phone details included will receive a response as priority over generic applications which state they are interested in meeting an animal.
Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
