🐾 Meet Bonnie 🐾
Bonnie is a little dog with a big personality: a total firecracker with a sweet, cuddly side that comes out when she’s ready for affection. Since coming into care, Bonnie has made huge progress and is growing into a clever, confident young girl.
Bonnie is now very easy to walk with either a Halti or a harness. The Halti is still preferred, as she can still be a little reactive towards other dogs on walks, but she has come a long way and continues to improve with consistent handling.
When Bonnie meets new dogs for the first time she likes to assert herself with a few growls, barks and launching towards them, she likes to make it known she’s the boss. After she’s had time to settle and get comfortable, she is generally happy to play and interact. Once she’s met a dog and knows them, she is much more excited and relaxed when seeing them and has no issues.
She has successfully lived with two other dogs and enjoys dogs that match her energy and like a bit of ruff-and-tumble play. She would be best suited to a home with another that matches her energy or is very submissive, or also suited to be an only dog.
Bonnie is a smart girl and loves learning, especially when treats are involved. Her sit and shake are excellent. She’s starting to learn sit and wait for dinner and she has improved greatly with eating around other dogs. Bonnie is very food motivated, which makes her a great candidate for ongoing reward based training.
Bonnie is full of life and always looking for something fun to do. Some of her favourite activities include:
~Chasing anything small that moves (insects, lizards, birds… and even her own tail!)
~Swimming in creeks she loves water and has no fear at all
~Chewing bones and long-lasting treats
~Cuddling up with her humans when she’s ready
Bonnie has recently developed a slight digging habit, usually after walks. This may be her trying to find a cooler spot or simply getting out an extra burst of energy after exercise.
Bonnie will benefit from continued training, especially with:
~Ongoing lead manners around dogs in a controlled environment
~Confidence and calmness during first introductions
~Impulse control (especially with her prey drive!)
Bonnie is a very clever girl who just wants to please her humans and in return she’ll happily accept cuddles, treats, and a family to call her own. 💛
Bonnie is $350 to adopt and comes desexed,
microchipped, HW tested (negative) C5 vaccinated, and given flea/tick/worm prevention.
