About Jax - 6 Year Old Mastiff X Labrador
Jax is a beautiful 6-year-old Mastiff x Labrador who is still searching for the forever home he’s never truly had. He’s spent much of his life without stability, and now, as he enters his golden years, he deserves a safe, loving place to finally settle and belong.
Jax is fully house trained, uses a doggy door, knows his basic commands, and thrives with routine, enrichment, and regular exercise. Since coming into care, his barking has reduced significantly and his true personality has started to shine. He’s sweet, gentle, incredibly loyal, very smart, and eager to learn.
He’s highly food motivated and absolutely loves treats, especially mango, strawberries, and peanut butter in a Kong. Bone marrow chews are another favourite, and he firmly believes orthopaedic beds are the only acceptable sleeping option.
Jax would do best as an only dog, or possibly with a calm, submissive dog of a similar size. He can be reactive on lead around dogs his size or larger and can be reactive with toys, so careful management is important. Inside the home, he is much more settled and relaxed, particularly when there are clear boundaries and a calm environment.
He can live with dog-savvy children aged 8 and over. Jax is gentle, but sometimes forgets just how big he is.
Jax is an anxious and sensitive boy. Loud voices, storms, fireworks, and high-energy environments can overwhelm him. When he’s worried, he seeks out quiet, dark spaces and benefits greatly from reassurance and calm support. Jax needs patience, kindness, and someone willing to work with him through his anxiety rather than against it.
His ideal home would have secure 6-foot fencing, a calm and consistent routine, and people who genuinely include him as part of the family. He would suit a couple, a family with older children, or even a single person looking for a loyal shadow. Someone who is home often or able to include him in their day would be ideal. Access to air conditioning on warmer days is also important for his comfort.
Jax is the kind of dog who wants to protect his yard, lie at your feet, and quietly watch the world alongside his person. He is emotionally sensitive, deeply loving, and forms strong bonds with those who show him patience and understanding.
Jax has waited long enough. He doesn’t need a perfect home. He just needs his person.
Jax is in care in Wyong, NSW. His adoption fee is $300, and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas, ticks and worms, and microchipped.
