About Zuma
**SEEKING A FOSTER HOME**
Meet Zuma, a chocolate Labrador who had a difficult start to life.
He entered care at 9 months old after becoming too much for his family to manage, largely due to missing out on early socialisation, training and structure during his puppy months.
Zuma spent most of his time outdoors, was not walked or enrolled in puppy school, and had limited daily interaction, which has impacted his ability to settle and regulate his emotions.
Zuma is a strong, energetic adolescent dog who becomes easily over-aroused when excited or stressed. He seeks interaction but can jump up and display mouthy behaviours during high-arousal moments.
He enjoys chewing and requires appropriate enrichment and mental stimulation. Zuma is currently on behaviour medication to help support his arousal levels and assist him in learning to settle.
He has been working extensively in our shelter behaviour program and is now ready to be assessed in a home environment. At this stage, we are seeking a foster carer who can help him adjust to indoor living, establish routine, and provide feedback to our team on how he manages in a household setting.
Zuma is seeking a foster home with:
-An experienced, dog-savvy foster carer
-Someone home often
-A secure, fully fenced backyard
-No other pets
-A calm household environment
-A carer physically capable of handling a strong dog
-Willingness to follow behaviour and medication plans
-Ability to provide routine, enrichment and structure
-Commitment to working closely with our behaviour team
If you believe you can provide the right foster environment for Zuma, please submit a foster application via our website and our team will be in touch.
