About Lola
Meet the stunning, 8½-year-old female purebred Lagotto Romagnolo, named Lola
Please note Lola is an assisted REHOME and this adoption is NOT the responsibility of Australian K9 Rescue and all ownership details belong directly to the current owner
Lola is in search of a serene home. She is intelligent, affectionate, and forms deep connections with her humans. Lola seeks a patient, dedicated new owner to share her retirement years in a peaceful, loving setting. Lola has plenty of energy for her age and loves to engage in training and play making her a great addition to an active family
Lola enjoys spending time with her people, cuddling on the couch, and playing ball. She thrives on activities that engage her mind and appreciates one-on-one interaction, which makes her feel happy and secure. She is very food-oriented, loves chewing on bones and natural treats, and enjoys playing tug-of-war and fetch. Given a sandpit, digging would likely become another favorite pastime.
Lola is loving, gentle, and responsive with adults she knows and trusts. She prefers calm, consistent interaction and flourishes with individual attention.
She does not enjoy the company of young children, finding them unpredictable, making her highly anxious so she is looking for an adult-only home.
While friendly and people-loving, Lola can become overexcited and may jump or lick. She is currently in training to address this behavior, which should improve with consistent management..
Lola is intelligent and responds well to training. She needs a mature, dedicated owner who can commit time to her ongoing training.. She has a strong "sit," "drop" (with stay until release), and a strong recall, and she is nearly finished with her loose-lead walking training. Lola is currently in professional training in Montmorency to prepare her for her forever home. Her new owner will receive two complimentary training sessions to support a smooth transition: an initial one-hour consultation at handover and a follow-up one on one or phone session ( depending on location) once she has settled into her new environment.
Lola is accustomed to being an only dog and requires slow introductions with calm social dogs, as she does not tolerate boisterous dogs. She can feel uncomfortable around other dogs that come into her space so she is best walked in quiet areas. She has been around several dogs but does not engage in play and has been supervised on lead. Her comfort around other animals depends on slow, carefully managed introductions. Shehe has not lived with cats.
Additionally, she has a strong instinct for chasing birds, consistent with the Lagotto breed's history as water retrievers, but has made excellent progress recently, improving her loose-lead walking.
Lola enjoys her people's company but is also used to being left alone for longer periods when her people are out for the day or at work. She has inside access when her family is away, as she can become stressed outside on her own. She does not like storms and feels safer with access inside the home. As a younger dog she had some destructive tendencies but now rarely gets up to mischief
As a Lagotto Romagnolo, Lola requires regular grooming to maintain her coat. She is non-shedding and needs a full professional groom approximately every 10 weeks, along with routine coat care between grooms. If her new home is local to Eltham, Lola could potentially continue seeing the same groomer she has been with since she was a puppy, providing continuity and comfort.
Diet of premium dry food and Prime 100, supplemented with air-dried enrichment (cow/lamb ears, etc.).It is highly recommended that she remains on this diet to support her mental and physical well-being. She enjoys natural treats and takes food gently from your hand
Lola settles best sleeping indoors in a quiet, comfortable space. She can be anxious at night but is not disruptive if managed correctly. This is improving and can be managed. She sleeps well overnight but is an early riser
Lola travels in the car but has never traveled more than 1 hour on trips.
Lola enjoys daily exercise appropriate for her age, including walks and playtime. Mental stimulation is equally important for her well-being. Lola loves to play outside chasing the ball, zooming or sniffing around, she enjoys the mental stimulation of practicing her obedience
Inside the Home
In a calm, predictable household, Lola settles well indoors and enjoys being part of daily life with her people. Lola will need to maintain her boundaries. Lola currently causes no issues inside the home. She may be a little unsettled in a new home so will require time and patience just like any dog in a new environment
No other animals or children please
