Meet Freddie Jr.

This sweet little guy is on the search for a forever family to give him the love, care, and all the treats he's been looking for.

Freddie came to us as a very scared little man, avoiding interactions with people and hiding out in his kennel. He would much prefer his forever home to be either adults only or a family with dog-savvy secondary school-aged children who can respect Freddie's boundaries and give him space when he needs.

He might also enjoy living with another small, social dog who can show him the ropes in his new home. So if you already have a small dog who you think might be a good fit for Freddie, please bring them to the meet and greet so we can ensure it will be a good match.

After spending some time in foster care, Freddie began to come out of his shell and show his true personality. This is what Freedie's foster carer had to say about him:

Freddie initially was very scared when he came to us and wanted to be left alone. He ran and hid for around a day in a dark corner and did not eat or use the bathroom until the day after.
Around day 2/3, his true colours started to shine, and he enjoyed spending time with us, letting us pat him, pick him up and following us around the house. He likes to follow you around the house, likes to snuggle sometimes, but is also happy with his own space close by for hours. He hangs out by himself, no problem.

He has been a bit of a picky eater, and he doesn't like his wet food and would leave his food for hours before he got hungry enough to eat. He likes his kibble and treats. He sometimes grabs food from his bowl and takes it away, spits it out, then eats it again.
We have been practising "sit" when giving treats. I don't think he knows any other commands except his name. We have been calling him Freddie.

He is friendly to other dogs and especially interested in smaller dogs. He is an escape artist and wiggles out of his harness if you clip it on his back, so we have been clipping it on his front between his legs. He walks well on the lead and toilets outside. He has not had any accidents inside and holds his pee rather than go on the outdoor balcony. He is friendly to other strangers he meets on his walks and has been finding his confidence. His tail wags when people greet him, but sometimes he gets a little bit scared. When I took him to my office, he was apprehensive at first of my colleagues, but by lunch, he was letting them pat him and playing with them.

When we leave the house or go to bed, he whines but settles down and sleeps after a little bit.

Overall he is a friendly dog who enjoys hanging out with you and watching over you while he is happy in his own space. Best of luck with your forever home Freddie.
