About Vera
Vera is a sweet, sensitive little lady who is still learning that the world—and people—can be safe. She once spent most of her time tucked away in her quiet hiding spots, but with patience, gentle handling, and a calm environment, she has already made remarkable progress.
She began slowly venturing out from her safe place, exploring the home and showing curiosity about her surroundings. She is still timid around people, but her confidence continues to grow every day. Vera truly is a sensitive soul who needs a soft voice, gentle movements, and a peaceful home to help her blossom.
Her foster carers have been softly socialising and desensitising her, helping her build positive associations with shared spaces—and it’s paying off beautifully.
🌟 Her Amazing Progress
Vera has improved so much! She now:
🐾 Comes out of her safe space willingly
👣 Follows people around the house
🗣️ Meows with a cute squeaky sound for attention
🤍 Actively seeks engagement and always wants to be near her humans
🧸 Plays like a kitten with lots of energy
🐈 Collects and stores toys in her safe place
🩶 Is no longer scared of her carers, though she still isn’t ready for full petting
🫶 Occasionally rubs against legs when feeling brave
💕 Responds to “baby” more than her actual name and will run towards it
With more time and patience, Vera truly has the potential to become a lap cat—her little acts of trust are growing steadily.
💕 What Vera Loves
🍽️ Food—especially wet food
🧶 All kinds of toys, with hair ties being her favourite
😺 Quiet playtime, especially when she thinks she’s not being watched
🛌 Safe, cozy hidey spots
🖤 Purring loudly once she feels comfortable
🎒 Keeping her favourite toys close in her safe space
✨ Her Best Qualities
🌟 Energetic, playful, and kitten‑like
🛁 Keeps herself very clean
🚽 Litter trained and tidy
🐾 Incredibly soft fur and an impressively loud purr
🤍 Growing confidence every day
🏡 Her Ideal Home
Vera needs a very patient, quiet, and understanding household—ideally with experienced cat owners who appreciate the slow, rewarding journey of building trust. She will thrive in a home with:
Predictable routines
Gentle voices and slow movements
Lots of safe spaces
Quiet encouragement
Time, respect, and positive reinforcement
With consistency, she will continue to blossom. Vera is already showing brave, sweet steps toward loving human companionship—and with the right home, she’ll shine even brighter.
✨ Could you be the patient, gentle heart Vera needs?
Give her time, love, and space—and she will reward you with trust, affection, and her sweet little squeaky meows. 🖤🐾

Please do not apply to adopt via our animals' PetRescue profile.
Follow the links below to be directed to the Wollongong City Council website, and find your preferred animal's online profile.
Once in the online profile, scroll down and click the link to complete an adoption application. Once received, a member of our team will be in touch to discuss your application and suitability for your preferred animal.
If we deem the animal to be suitable for your home and lifestyle, an in-person meet and greet may be organised. Should your meet and greet be a success, you can take your new furry friend home that day or following their desexing surgery. Our team will manage all your animal's paperwork, including ownership and vaccination documentation.
