About Ruffles
Ruffles requires the following in his new home :
- A large sized securely fenced yard.
- An active lifestyle, maybe getting him involved with a dog sport once he is old enough eg. scenting, agility, obedience, tracking etc.
- To have the option of being inside with his people when they are home and to sleep over night.
- Knowledge with the breed is a bonus or experienced with working breed dogs.
- To have his physical and mental needs meet.
- Continued training.
- If children reside in the home they are to be over 12.
- People home more often than not.
- An easygoing desexed dog, not senior or puppy living in the home, or his people home often.
Ruffles is a Lagotto Romagnolo, he is a working breed, active boy, he is not a poodle x and will need someone familiar with the breed or that are experienced dog owners or have an interest in dog training or dog sports.
Ruffles is a bundle of energy who loves life, being with his people and everything fun! He’s happiest when he’s running, playing with his doggy friends, or splashing around in water—though be warned, if you leave a water bowl inside, expect a little mess. This clever pup thrives on learning and will do anything for food, making training a rewarding experience for both of you.
Ruffles is already toilet trained, sleeps well in a crate, and has been great with free run of the house. He’s mastered “sit,” has a pretty good recall, and even learned how to use a doggy door in no time. Walking on lead is still a work in progress—he’s strong and can be reactive when he sees other dogs or dogs behind fences—but he’s improving every day and just needs a little more confidence. He is good with dogs off leash, but will need slow introductions with other dogs and is selective with the dogs he does get along with. He’s also a superstar at scent training and loves mental challenges as much as physical ones.
When it comes to people, Ruffles is a little shy at first. He’s met children on walks and generally ignores them, and he’s wary of strangers, preferring to keep his distance. But once he knows you, he’ll come up for pats and attention and show his affectionate side. He can get jumpy and a bit nippy when overexcited, like when you arrive home, so continued training will help him manage his enthusiasm. Once his physical and mental needs are meet, he is happy to chill with his people.
Ruffles is great in the car and loves being with his people—he wouldn’t be happy left outside on his own. He’s a typical active pup who enjoys chewing and digging, so he’ll need plenty of toys and activities to keep him busy.
Ruffles has a loud bark and isn't afraid to use it, he even plays noisily (check out his videos) he is not suited to apartment or unit living. He loves to dig, so having a digging patch would be a great enrichment activity.
If you’re looking for a smart, energetic companion who will keep you on your toes and reward you with endless love, Ruffles is your guy!
