About Otis
Note: This dog is currently being cared for in a home and when adopted, it will free up a spot to help another dog.
*Otis is looking for a Foster To Adopt home due to upcoming medical appointments
Meet Otis, a laid-back, goofy little dog with a huge love for his people and an easygoing nature that makes him a joy to have around. Otis has been thriving in his calm apartment foster home, where he quickly settled into a routine and showed just how adaptable he can be. After a brief period of initial nerves, his true personality came out and he’s now a confident, relaxed companion who is happiest when he’s close by, usually snoozing on his favourite corner of the couch.
Otis enjoys a balanced routine of gentle walks, playtime, and plenty of rest. He doesn’t need huge amounts of exercise, but he does love his daily strolls and really comes alive when it’s time to play, especially if toys are involved. Fetch, tug-of-war, squeaky toys, and a good chase around the room are all high on his list of favourites. He’s food motivated and very happy to work for treats, whether that’s sitting politely for meals or keeping busy with a puzzle toy or lick mat while his humans head out.
Affectionately described as a little shadow, Otis loves knowing where his people are at all times. While he’s not constantly demanding cuddles, he enjoys being nearby and will occasionally surprise you by hopping up for a cuddle or nuzzling in close when the mood strikes. He’s friendly with people, enjoys attention from strangers, and is generally a quiet boy around the home. He travels beautifully in the car, settling calmly into his seat and enjoying the ride.
Otis has been learning house rules well and already knows how to sit, go to his bed, and wait patiently for food. He can be a bit cheeky during bursts of playful energy, but with clear boundaries and redirection to toys, he continues to improve. On walks, he is still learning his manners and can become reactive when other dogs are very close, so he will benefit from an understanding adopter who is happy to continue his lead training and help him build confidence around other dogs. Due to this, Otis would be best suited to a adult only home.
Overall, Otis is a sweet, clumsy, and lovable boy who just wants to be adored. He would suit a home where he can be part of everyday life, soak up attention, and enjoy a relaxed routine with people who will continue guiding him as he grows. Otis has so much love to give and is ready to be someone’s very special companion.
