About Benji
Benji, a Maltese Shih Tzu mix, is an energetic 'pocket rocket’ looking for his furever home🏡.
Benji almost cartwheels for a treat, so has made great progress learning how to be a dog, including toileting outside ✔️.
This non-shedding cherub has some anxiety about the outside world, which means he’s still learning to walk safely on a lead 🐾, ride in the car 🚙, and cope with new environments and storms ⛈️. As a result, he needs a loving owner who has time, patience, and discipline to help him be the best doggie he can be. As his carers have experienced, once trust has been established, Benji is a devoted human shadow.
Benji is an excellent intruder detector and would be best suited to someone who is home more often than not, with a big, fenced yard to explore, and no children. He would be ok with other small dogs and is not tested with cats 🐈❌.
Benji can get possessive about his toys or when he steals a sock ‼️.
This boy has improved so much with his carers time and patience 💕.
Benji is a young, active boy who needs an active family that can provide patience, routine and structure. Could that be you?
Medical notes
Benji has 2 luxating patellas (under vet supervision and to be decided best way forward - any treatment to be covered by AINB).
Adoption details
We list animals for adoption on Pet Rescue as well as on our own Animals-in-Need-Brisbane website. We talk with people who contact about an animal to see what their needs and situation are. Our emphasis is on getting the right animal for the people and the right people for the animal. If everyone's needs are met things usually work out well.
If the situation sounds good we arrange a meeting. If all goes well we let people try the animal out for a couple of weeks to ensure that everyone is happy.
We keep records of all adopters, follow up to ensure all is well and undertake to take back any animal if circumstances change.
