About Bandaid
Bandaid’s story begins with a kind stranger. She was dropped off at a Melbourne Bird Vet as a squeaker by a caring member of the public after being found with a small wound under her wing. Wanting to help, they gently placed a bandage on her injury and that sweet act of kindness is exactly how she got her name.
Once a quiet little pigeon, Bandaid has recently discovered her big girl voice in her foster home, and she’s very proud of it. These days she practises her coos daily, filling the room with gentle pigeon chatter as she learns just how expressive she can be. And just to make it official Bandaid is a confirmed girl, thanks to a DNA test.
One of Bandaid’s greatest loves in life is her mirror. You’ll often find her sitting close, softly cooing and keeping company with the very pretty pigeon looking back at her. But watch out! If anyone gets a little too close to her mirror friend, Bandaid will bravely show off her pecking skills. She loves to fly and regularly gets the zoomies!
She’s a curious soul who enjoys watching the world around her and investigating new sights at her own pace. Bandaid is still shy of hands and prefers to admire humans from a respectful distance, but her bravery shines when something important needs defending especially that mirror.
Bandaid is not a human bonded pigeon but is also not fearful of humans. She will happily co exist with you but isn't going to long for your affection. She was born in the wild and does like her boundaries.
With patience, kindness, and an understanding home, Bandaid will continue to grow into her voice and her confidence. She’s a gentle, quirky pigeon with a big heart and would suit a home with a pigeon boyfriend to share her days with, or the freedom to fly among a flock of friends in a safe outdoor aviary.
