About Willow and Hazel
In Australia, millions of cows live on farms across the country. Most are treated as commodities, valued only for what their bodies can produce. Their existence as sentient beings – capable of feeling, forming bonds, and experiencing emotion – is too often overlooked.
Cows are raised for many purposes: for their meat, their milk, their hides, and even for entertainment. No matter the reason, most will have their lives cut short, with little opportunity to experience true freedom or affection. Even those treated more gently often meet the same heartbreaking end.
Despite their intelligence and emotional depth, cows are frequently underestimated. Much like dogs or cats, they form strong social bonds and experience joy, fear, and grief.
Willow’s story is different.
She was raised on a farm, but when the farmer decided to move on, she was left behind. Why she wasn’t sold is unknown, but we are grateful that her life continued. With no one assigned to care for her, a kind-hearted person stepped in and took Willow into her care – and into her heart. It soon became clear that Willow was not just one life, but two: she was carrying an unborn calf.
While many might have seen Willow as a financial opportunity, her rescuer couldn’t bear the thought of harm coming to her or her baby. Unable to keep Willow herself, she was determined to find her a safe and loving future.
Amid the sadness faced by so many other cows, Willow and her calf, Hazel, are among the fortunate few. They are now living safely and freely, able to experience the world as they deserve while they wait for the next chapter of their journey – their forever home.
Willow and Hazel are ready to be welcomed into a home as loved companions, not commodities. 🤎

Meet Willow and Hazel, a beautiful mother-daughter duo in search of a caring and patient adopter who can ensure that they will continue their journey together as companions only.
Willow is a sweet and gentle cow with Angus characteristics, and she is a devoted mother to her lively calf, Hazel. Her affectionate nature towards her baby showcases her strong maternal instincts.
Willow may be a bit shy initially, as she is still adjusting to one-on-one handling after being kept as a commodity and then abandoned. However, her gentle heart shines through once she becomes familiar with her surroundings and the people around her. Although she can be nervous, she is never aggressive and thrives best with calm and patient individuals who respect her space. In contrast, Hazel is full of energy and curiosity. This lively girl shows excitement when meeting new faces and exploring new environments.
The successful adopter of Willow and Hazel will need to understand the needs of cows and a nursing cow, or have the support of someone in their network who does. Willow and Hazel are seeking a loving environment that allows both mother and calf to safely explore their surroundings.
This delightful pair offers a combination of gentle companionship and spirited interactions, sure to enrich the life of any adopter ready to welcome them into their hearts.
If you believe you can provide Willow and Hazel with a loving home, please contact us to start your adoption journey today.
