About Ricky
Shadow is a 5-year-old greyhound who has officially hung up his racing silks after earning a respectable $30,000 on the track. Now he's ready to swap prize money for couches, zoomies, and a human who can keep up with his very important daily exercise schedule.
Let's be upfront - Shadow is a bit rude, a bit silly, and 100% greyhound. He hasn't quite mastered manners yet and can be socially awkward in that endearing "I didn't grow up in a house" way. He's not trying to be naughty... he's just figuring life out one zoom at a time.
Some key requirements if you want a new Shadow in your life.
Medium to large dog friends only - he's happy to share his world with dogs his own size
No cats or small animals - his greyhound instincts are strong
Fit, active owner needed - Shadow may look like a lounge ornament, but when he's on, he's ON
Secure backyard required - essential for daily zoomies, victory laps, and spontaneous bursts of joy
Greyhounds are famous for being elite athletes with surprisingly low stamina. Shadow will go from Olympic sprinter to professional couch potato in minutes. They are affectionate, sensitive dogs who thrive on routine, comfy beds, and gentle guidance as they learn the ways of pet life.
Shadow will need an owner who understands that retired racers are learning everything for the first time - stairs, glass doors, toys, and the concept that the couch is not actually a racetrack.
Shadow isn't a polished, perfectly mannered dog - but he is hilarious, loving, and full of personality. If you've got a sense of humour, a bit of patience, a secure yard, and the fitness to keep up with his bursts of speed, Shadow will reward you with loyalty, laughs, and the best naps you've ever seen.
