About Beans
Introducing Beans!
Beans is an English Staffy x born approx 5th January 2023.
Beans was brought into the facility as an unmicrochipped stray after being found roaming the streets for almost a week. Sadly, no one came looking for him.
Since being at the facility Beans has been an incredibly sweet boy. He's just a little ball of muscle, but he's incredibly gentle. He walks beautifully on lead and the only time he pulls is if he's scared and stops walking. With a little encouragement though he's happy to keep moving. While he's not a hugely affectionate boy at the moment we believe this will change once he's settled & knows he can trust you. He just has such a sad aura about him, that's just so heartbreaking to see. You can see that he wants to be a lap dog & be swooned over, but he's holding himself back.
Since being in foster care Beans has found a love for belly rubs & is becomming more confident with asking for affection from not only his carer, but gentle strangers he meets when out in the public. He's also 100% house trained and has had no toileting accidents.
Beans seems to have absolutely no interest in other dogs. When we did his testing he initially completely ignored the other dog, then when we moved them closer he sniffed the other dog, growled and walked away. He will happily ignore every other dog he sees while walking him, even if they're barking and screaming at him. Beans will most likely never be the type of dog who can go to dog parks or off-leash beaches, but he'll be happy as long as he's with you. For this reason we believe Beans would be best suited to a home where he can be the spoilt only "child". Beans has met multiple other dogs out in the community, as well as gone for multiple walks with a small female dog, who he has had no issues with. He is happy for a quick meeting to say hello, but then moves his focus onto his human companions once again.
Unfortunately Beans doesn't get along with cats or pocket pets, so he will need a home with no small animals.
He still has so much to learn about the world and would love to be in a home where he is included as a member of the family. Beans will thrive in an environment that guides him with positive direction and lots of love and attention.
Beans has shown signs of food guarding especially when it comes to high value treats like pigs ears. The odd thing is that he doesn't actually eat the high value treats, so we would recommend him not having them at all, instead going with smaller treats like Schmackos that he can eat straight away.
Beans has shown very mild signs of separation anxiety, where he will whine for a short amount of time, then he seems to settle himself.
Beans' adoption fee is $475 and includes his desexing & lifetime registration.
Beans is also regularly treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
