About Archie
All About Me and My Unique Personality:
Archie is a bright, highly intelligent young boy who thrives on interaction and engagement. He loves to play and is almost always up for a play session, enthusiastically joining in whenever his people are available. His clever, inquisitive nature means he enjoys exploring new spaces, toys, and routines with curiosity. He is affectionate and connects well with people, including visitors.
Archie seeks out social contact and shared activities. While he isn’t quite a lap cat, we wouldn’t be surprised if he grew into one over time. He is especially snuggly and purry in the mornings and, although not clingy, often shadows his favourite person from room to room. Archie has a habit of giving very gentle “love bites,” most often in the mornings and always accompanied by very loud purring. These nibbles don’t hurt and aren’t aggressive — we think they’re simply Archie’s unique way of showing affection, as he hasn’t quite mastered nuzzling humans yet (though he’s getting there!).
Given his intelligence and enthusiasm for engagement, we believe a stimulating environment will be important for him.
Archie has had some mild litter box issues which we have been addressing and having success with. We believe that in the right environment and with the right love, these issues are likely to resolve.
My Ideal Home:
Due to his intelligence, Archie needs a high degree of stimulation. This means lots of attention, toys, play. Archie easily masters treat toys and has taught his foster family his signal for more plays which is to touch his paw to his preferred toy when the family is nearby.
What is Known About My Background:
Archie came to us from the pound where they believe he was separated from his mother and siblings quite young. Archie may have missed out on some of the socialisation and 'rules of cat' that he would have picked up from his mum and siblings, however with care and a supportive environment, we're confident that Archie can make a truly wonderful companion.
How Do I Interact with Kids, Dogs, Cats and Other Pets:
Archie has seen a full-grown Labrador from the window on many occasions and has shown no concern, he has also been very briefly introduced to a French Bulldog without drama. While he has not yet had direct contact with dogs, this suggests he may be comfortable with calm, well-mannered dogs given appropriate introductions.
Archie came to his current foster family with another cat who we believe stressed Archie (although the other cat was well adjusted and well mannered). As the feline behaviourist at the pound thought, we agree that Archie is best suited to a solo cat situation. He has loved interacting with many cats he has met, and learned a lot from them, but we think he may need to be the king of the castle cat-wise.
Archie is gentle in his play and has never scratched or hurt anyone — feline or human.
