About Shizuka
Shizuka is a beautiful young cat of just 18 months who found herself in the shelter after being picked up as a stray. Like many sensitive souls, the shelter environment has been overwhelming for her. When you first open her door, Shizuka may retreat or recoil - not because she's unfriendly, but because she's scared and unsure of what comes next.
Once given a moment, Shizuka shows her true nature. She allows handling and tolerates gentle pats, quietly accepting affection even if she's not yet confident enough to ask for it. Beneath her cautious exterior is a very sweet lady who simply hasn't felt safe enough to fully emerge yet.
Cats like Shizuka are so often overlooked. They don't rush to the front of the enclosure or reach out through the glass to catch your eye. Instead, they wait patiently in the background, hoping someone will see past their fear and recognise the potential hiding underneath. These are often the cats who blossom the most once they're in a calm, loving home.
Shizuka is looking for a kind, patient adopter who understands that trust takes time - and that the reward is watching a shy cat slowly realise she's safe. With space, routine, and gentle reassurance, Shizuka has all the makings of a deeply loving companion.
Shizuka is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Shizuka - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
