Penelope is a friendly and affectionate girl who loves being with her people and forms strong bonds with those she trusts. She enjoys toys, playtime and plenty of attention, and is sure to make a loving and loyal companion in the right home.

Penelope is looking for a calm, supportive home that can provide her with a predictable routine, ongoing enrichment and continued positive training. She is currently on medication to help manage her anxiety and will need a family committed to supporting her ongoing care.

Penelope is dog reactive and is not suitable to live with other dogs. She will need a home where she can be walked in quieter areas and must not be taken to off-lead parks or other spaces where dogs may be free roaming.

She is also completely water obsessed — clam pools and large buckets of water are an absolute must in her new home. Penelope can be reactive to hoses, so this is something her new family will need to continue working on with patience and consistency.

With the right understanding home, Penelope will be a devoted, affectionate and fun companion.

Penelope has been in our care for almost a whole year, and we would love nothing more than to see her finally find a family of her own!

Penelope has worked incredibly hard during her time with us, and her progress has been wonderful to see. Through ongoing training, medication and a consistent approach, she has made incredible improvements in her dog reactivity. She has been working through a structured desensitisation program and has successfully enjoyed parallel walks alongside some of our suitable shelter dogs. She is learning to remain calmer around other dogs, respond to cues and look to her handler for guidance. While she can still become fixated at times, her progress deserves to be celebrated!

She has also improved with her lead walking and is learning to manage distractions more successfully. Even her sensitivity around water hoses has improved, with recent bath time going exceptionally well.

Penelope is looking for a patient, committed home that can provide a predictable routine, enrichment, positive reinforcement and continued training. She would be best suited as the only dog in the household, with ongoing, carefully managed exposure to other dogs as appropriate. She is also taking medication to help manage her anxiety, which has supported her progress.

Penelope has so much love to give and has come such a long way. After a year of waiting, she deserves the chance to leave shelter life behind and be someone's beloved companion. Could you be the person she has been waiting for? 🐾
