About Ottis
Meet Ottis — an affectionate and dignified gentleman seeking a calm, loving home.
Ottis is a 5-year-old Russian Blue (without papers) who came into ARK’s care through no fault of his own. Having known only one home prior to surrender, the move into care has understandably been unsettling for him. For that reason, we would love to see Ottis settled into his forever home sooner rather than later, so he doesn’t have to adjust twice.
Ottis is a big, handsome boy with a short, dense coat in classic blue-grey. He weighs 6.9 kgs.
True to his breed, he is highly intelligent and observant, with an excellent memory — especially when it comes to the people he learns to trust.
He is also an excellent traveller, having completed an epic road trip across Australia from east to west and back again with ease.
Ottis is not immediately outgoing and needs a little time to feel safe in new surroundings. That said, he is adaptable — it took him just four days to relax and bond with his foster mum, which in the grand scheme of a cat’s life is barely a blink.
He has charmed the staff at our vet clinic with his impeccable manners, even when having his temperature taken!
He is best suited to a kind, patient person who enjoys doting on their cat. Once settled, Ottis reveals his true nature: a loving, affectionate companion who forms deep bonds with his chosen human.
Ottis appears more comfortable with female humans, likely because that’s what he has always known. Like most cats, he thrives in a quiet household where his boundaries are respected.
He prefers to be an only pet, though he can coexist contentedly with dogs. He would not be suited to a home with other cats.
Ottis is fastidiously clean, dislikes a dirty litter tray, and takes great pride in keeping himself well groomed. He lives indoors exclusively.
Ottis is healthy and has clearly been much loved and well cared for throughout his life. While he is settling nicely into foster care, a stable and permanent home would be far better for him than a prolonged stay in care.
If you’re looking for a loyal, intelligent companion and are happy to make him the centre of your universe, Ottis may be the perfect match for you.
