About Bear
ASSISTED REHOME
Handsome Bear is a 1 year old Staffy who is on the lookout for a forever home.
His current owners have given us the following information:-
“””DOB 16 August 2024
Parent origin unknown as he was part of an abandoned litter
He is registered, desexed, wormed and treated, C5 vax last done Nov 2025.
Bear weighs 28 kilos
He is a very loved dog and a good boy.
He is initially hesitant at times with other dogs and can be over enthusiastic, so would be best suited with a home where he is a solo dog or paired with a suitable older dog who can take the lead.
He has a brother (two year old Groodle) who he loves dearly and aside from being full on when together in terms of both bringing the energy, there has never been an issue. Bear doesn’t food or toy guard and they are left home together without issue when we are working.
He is kid friendly and absolutely loves kids. He is still a big boof who thinks he is a pup so sometimes doesn’t know his own strength, can be a bit of a unit and still wants to sit on laps.
He is inside / outside, crate trained for night sleeps, loves the car and travels long distances with ease
He still needs some work on leash control / pulling, but does train easily and loves praise / treats. We simply haven’t been able to put in what he needs.
He does respond to basic commands to sit, come, hop in the crate, calm, “no” etc but hasn’t had extensive training:
He will wait if told for food or treats before eating
He is fed Blackhawk dry with a meat topper and the only past medical issue is some occasional groin area redness on skin from grass irritation which we treat with a Malaseb wash. This has only been 2-3 times and resolves in one to two washes with no other treatment and has been vet checked.
He is in Portland, NSW (can Travel)

Adoption details
***Our aim is to find the best homes for our dogs and pups, so a good detailed application will make you stand out from the rest***
If you could answer the following questions and provide as much information about your family, work, home life so we can best match up these pooches to the right family. Thanks so much.
* Current pets? If so, details.
* Children? If so, details
* Rent or own your home? Written agreement is required by your landlord/real estate for rental properties outlining that dogs are allowed. Our dogs and pups will only be adopted to homes where they are allowed inside to be part of the family. Real Estate approvals must state that this is permitted.
* Opportunities for socialization outside the home? Whilst some of our dogs are best in only dog homes, most of our dogs have been provided with lots of socialisation and will need this to be ongoing.
* Work commitments? How long will the dog be on their own?
* Why do you think this breed will be suitable for you? Breed type experienced owners will generally be given priority.
* Will you allow this pooch to live both inside and outside as part of the family?
* Yard check will be done to confirm you have a fully fenced secure yard and adequate shelter when the dog or pup is outdoors.
Wally's Doggie Rescue put a lot of time and effort into ensuring our dogs/pups are sociable and made to feel part of the family, so in considering adoptions, these are the type of things we will be looking for in a new family. He/she will be desexed,1st and 2nd vaccination, microchiped, wormed and flea treated regularly and a health check done by our vet .
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
