Buddy

Meet Buddy the Dashie, a sweet little guy in search of a loving family to call his own.

Buddy is currently in foster care and is thriving, he is loving life and has bonded well with his foster dachshund siblings and his foster family. He still has some puppy energy and is still learning some manners but learns quickly.

He is a sweet boy with so much potential, but he will need a patient owner who can give him the time and space to properly settle in and adjust to a new environment. He will be your best friend.

Buddy would be best suited to any home - with children, tradies or someone retired who just wants a loyal companion. Buddy just loves human company whether it’s following you around the yard, going for a walk or just sitting on the deck outside the back door or kitchen window.

He may show some anxiety initially while adjusting to a new environment especially when you go out, but with consistency, reassurance, and routine, he settles and forms strong bonds.

Having another friendly dog in the home would be a wonderful bonus for Buddy as he would truly enjoy a doggy mate to keep him company but he does get a little over excited when greeting new friends. Buddy is ok with cats( limited exposure) and is also okay with caged birds.

Buddy has been sleeping outside on the foster carer deck at night, he’s toileted around 9pm and sleeps well through until morning around 5am. He just likes a mat to sleep on under the kitchen window. He has shown no interest in coming inside to sleep so has mainly been outside though he would love to sit at your feet.
He’s toilet trained but still needs regular reminding.

He’s tolerating a variety of wet and dry food and still needs some reinforcement of manners at meal times, he just gets super excited about food. He eats anything.

Buddy enjoys spending time outside in the backyard and would thrive with someone who is happy to take him on regular walks to keep him active and stimulated. He still needs some manners while on his lead- he walks well until he sees other dogs and then just wants to play, remember he’s still a puppy at heart. He travels well in the car and loves car rides.

In foster care he spends most of his time just lying around to be close to his humans. Buddy is a loving boy who simply needs patience, stability, and kindness. In the right home, he will blossom into a loyal and affectionate companion.

He is very chilled and laid back, he doesn’t dig or bark excessively. He does get a little upset when you leave without him but settles quickly, it’s just because he loves you.
