About Mira
Located in Perth
Hi, I’m Mira 💙🐶
I didn’t arrive with fireworks or fanfare. I arrived quietly, on Christmas Eve, when a few kind humans said “yes” and my story changed. These days, I’m being lovingly looked after by a wonderful lady who also happens to be the Branch Coordinator for SAFE Newman. She tells me she’s searching for a little bit of unicorn dust for my next home. I’m not entirely sure what that is, but I think it means she’s holding out for the place where I’ll truly belong.
I’m a gentle, affectionate girl who loves children. I enjoy calm, kind company and being included in everyday family life. I’m not looking to live outside or be on the sidelines. I’d really love to be inside, part of the family, where I can relax, feel secure, and soak up all the good stuff that comes with being loved.
I would also really like another dog friend in my home. I learn a lot by watching other dogs and feel more confident when I have one nearby to take cues from. A friendly, social dog would help me settle and show me the ropes.
I should also tell you that I’m currently being treated for Ehrlichia canis (E. canis) and I’m doing well. I’m bright, comfortable, and feeling good. The SAFE team will happily explain what this means and support my new family every step of the way.
Because I’m living in foster care, SAFE is getting to know the real me, my personality, my needs, and what helps me feel safe. That means they can help find the right match, not just the first one.
You can meet me easily by sending in an adoption application. From there, SAFE can arrange a meet and greet and talk through whether we might be a good fit. SAFE doesn’t have a shelter you can visit, but that doesn’t stop dogs like me from finding our people.
If you’re a family with children, a comfy couch, room in your heart, and a dog friend waiting to say hello… I think that might be the unicorn dust they’re talking about.
Love,
Mira 💙

Flying for a few hours is very important for animals in remote locations because it gives us the opportunity to be adopted. Talk to SAFE about flying me to Perth.
4 THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE APPLYING:
1. Time Commitment: Owning a dog is a big responsibility and requires a significant commitment of time and energy. Be sure to consider how much time you can realistically dedicate to caring for a dog and make sure you are prepared to make that commitment.
2. Cost: Owning a dog can be expensive. Make sure to consider the cost of food, medical care, toys, and other supplies. You may also want to think about enrolling your dog in obedience classes or hiring a professional dog walker.
3. Space: Depending on the breed, some dogs require a lot of space. Make sure you have enough room in your home and yard to accommodate a dog before making the decision to adopt.
4. Lifestyle: Think about your current lifestyle and how a dog may fit into it. Consider if you have any restrictions such as travel, work hours, or allergies. Also, think about how owning a dog may affect your social life.
NOTES:
Adoption fee includes vet check, first vaccination*, flea and worm treatment, microchipping and sterilisation at a SAFE approved vet at 6 months of age.
*Puppies and dogs may require further vaccination(s) to complete the full vaccination course. This will be at the cost of the new owner and is not included in the adoption fee.
6 GREAT REASONS TO ADOPT FROM SAFE:
1. Lifetime Support: If you can no longer care for your adopted pet, please inform SAFE, and we will do our best to help you find a suitable solution.
2. Discounted airfares: if applicable
3. Adoption fee includes vet check, first vaccination, microchip and desexing
4. Foster care instead of cage confinement, ensuring lots of love and socialisation
