About Mars
Mars is a loyal, sensitive boy who wants one thing above all else: to be with his person. Wherever you go, Mars will be close behind. Bathroom? He’s there. Kitchen? He knows where the “magic line” is and politely stops. Watching TV? He’ll be on the couch behind you, doubling as a very solid backrest. Bedtime? If invited, he’s in.
He loves his daily walks and is fully toilet trained, uses a doggy door, and knows his basics. Cars, however, are not his favourite thing. If you want him in one, you’ll either need the strength to lift him or the patience (and treats) to convince him it’s worth it. With time, positive experiences, and encouragement, this is something he can continue to improve on.
Mars has had a rough start and can be anxious at times. He is not aggressive — when frightened, he’ll bark and retreat. His bark is loud, making him an excellent “doorbell,” but don’t expect him to confront intruders… aluminium foil is enough to make him jump. He’s vocal in general and will happily remind you if you’re late for a walk. When left alone, he will announce your departure to the neighbours briefly, then settle and wait by the door for your return.
He loves other dogs and currently lives with a Husky and a Rottweiler, whom he takes great pride in tiring out daily. He can be a bit over-enthusiastic, but reads the room well — a visiting elderly Jack Russell gets a polite hello and then space. Cats should be approached with caution, and birds are considered fair game.
Mars is not an outside dog. He needs to live indoors and be part of the household. He is large, clumsy, and enthusiastic, so a home without small children would be best. He enjoys chew toys and is learning what is and isn’t appropriate to chew. He’s intelligent and responds well to gentle, consistent training.
Mars is a devoted, affectionate shadow dog who will bond deeply with his person. He needs understanding, patience, and kindness — and in return, he’ll give unwavering loyalty, plenty of laughs, and constant companionship.
Medical notes
Mars is desexed, microchipped and up to date with vaccinations and parasite control.
He is in perfect health.
