Profile:
Meet ARTIE, a clever, affectionate little dog with a big love for people and a wonderfully easygoing nature. At a handy 12.4 kg, he’s corgi-sized and just right for someone wanting a compact companion without sacrificing personality.
ARTIE adores human company and happily makes himself at home wherever his people are. While he’s fine around other dogs, he’s not especially playful and would be best suited to living with a calm, laid-back canine companion — or as the sole dog where he can soak up all the attention. People, however, are very much his favourite. He's untested with cats.
ARTIE came to us via the pound with a few old “war wounds” on his face — a legacy of who knows what from an earlier chapter of his life. They are long healed and simply add to his character and charm, hinting at a dog who has seen a bit of the world and come through it with his gentle, affectionate nature intact.
He has good basic obedience, is extremely well house-trained, and is quiet and settled in a crate. ARTIE walks nicely on lead with just a little enthusiasm, nothing too strong, and travels well in the car — he’s always happy to come along for an adventure. He can be a bit excitable when greeting people, simply because he’s so pleased to see them, so is not a suitable companion for the very young or the very old.
ARTIE isn’t particularly fond of vet visits (who can blame him) and is terrified of thunder and storms, but otherwise takes life in his stride. He’s a gentle, good-natured boy with a calm attitude and a knack for sitting very sweetly for photos, as you can see.
Ideal Home:
ARTIE is looking for an inside/outside home with couch privileges firmly included. He would love a household where people are around much of the time, as human companionship is what makes him happiest. He’d suit a relaxed home that enjoys outings, shared time together, and a loyal little dog who just wants to be part of everyday life. As always, secure fencing to keep him safe is essential.
Why Artie?
Small, people-loving, well-mannered and adaptable, ARTIE is the kind of dog who slots easily into family life and forms strong bonds with his humans. He’s a lovely natured boy who won’t be waiting long for the right home.
