About Toffee
Meet Toffee 🍯🐾
Toffee is a gentle, sweet-natured boy who has already shown just how resilient he can be.
He came into SAFE care unwell after testing positive to E.canis, but the good news is that Toffee has responded well to treatment and is now on the mend and feeling brighter every day. He has taken everything in his stride and continues to show a lovely, steady temperament throughout his recovery.
Toffee is currently living in foster care with a loving family, which means we know his personality, his routines, and what helps him feel comfortable. He is enjoying the rhythm of home life while continuing to regain his strength.
His foster carer describes him as a soft, affectionate soul who appreciates kindness and reassurance. He settles well, enjoys calm companionship, and likes being close to his people without demanding constant attention.
Because Toffee is in foster care, he can be met easily by submitting an adoption application, and we are happy to arrange a meet and greet. SAFE is a foster-based rescue, so while we don’t have a shelter you can visit, that doesn’t stop you from adopting a dog who is already thriving in a home environment.
Toffee’s journey shows that with the right care and support, dogs can move forward and enjoy what comes next. If you are looking for a companion with a gentle heart and quiet strength, Toffee may be the one to meet. 💙
This pup has tested positive to Ehrlichia canis and is responding well to treatment. E. canis is a tick-borne condition that is manageable with veterinary care, and many dogs go on to live happy, active lives once treated. SAFE will ensure all recommended treatment and follow-up care is completed, and our team is happy to answer any questions.

Flying for a few hours is very important for animals in remote locations because it gives us the opportunity to be adopted. Talk to SAFE about flying me to Perth.
4 THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE APPLYING:
1. Time Commitment: Owning a dog is a big responsibility and requires a significant commitment of time and energy. Be sure to consider how much time you can realistically dedicate to caring for a dog and make sure you are prepared to make that commitment.
2. Cost: Owning a dog can be expensive. Make sure to consider the cost of food, medical care, toys, and other supplies. You may also want to think about enrolling your dog in obedience classes or hiring a professional dog walker.
3. Space: Depending on the breed, some dogs require a lot of space. Make sure you have enough room in your home and yard to accommodate a dog before making the decision to adopt.
4. Lifestyle: Think about your current lifestyle and how a dog may fit into it. Consider if you have any restrictions such as travel, work hours, or allergies. Also, think about how owning a dog may affect your social life.
NOTES:
Adoption fee includes vet check, first vaccination*, flea and worm treatment, microchipping and sterilisation at a SAFE approved vet at 6 months of age.
*Puppies and dogs may require further vaccination(s) to complete the full vaccination course. This will be at the cost of the new owner and is not included in the adoption fee.
