About Poppy
We’ve had to rewrite Poppy’s profile because of how much she’s changed in the last few weeks!
Poppy came to us as a confused and timid little kitten who had just given birth to two premature babies and couldn’t understand what was happening. Tragically, they didn’t make it, but we were determined to give Poppy the best possible chance at finding a loving home of her own.
Since then, Poppy has blossomed. She has integrated seamlessly into home life and is living happily alongside other cats and dogs. She now actively seeks out human affection in the form of gentle pats, tasty treats, and quiet companionship. While she’s still learning that being picked up is okay, she’s making wonderful progress every day, and she’s really getting there!
Poppy is very food motivated and has learned all of her confidence building steps through positive reinforcement with treats. Her ideal home will continue this gentle, reward based approach (and we’re more than happy to show you how!) These days, Poppy purrs when she sees people and happily approaches for smooches, pats, and love 🥰
Poppy will thrive in a home that can offer her patience, kindness, and consistency; a family who understands that trust grows with time. In return, you’ll be rewarded with a sweet, affectionate girl who is ready to love and be loved.

ADOPTION PROCESS:
1. An Adoption enquiry should be made via
https://form.jotform.com/shellys.place.rescue/adoption-enquiry
2. Once your application has been received, one of our volunteers will contact you for a phone interview. This is to determine whether one of our cats or kittens will be a good fit for your home. We all want long-term success in placing rescue animals, so finding the best fit for the animal AND the family is very important.
3. 'Meet & Greet' with the animal and their carer will then take place if the application is approved.
4. A property check will take place via a video. Once this has been successfully completed, adoption paperwork finalised and the adoption donation processed, the pet can be collected from foster care.
5. A 14 day settling-in period commences once the animal has been collected from foster care.
6. Adoption is finalised after 14 days. Paperwork/records will be included in an adoption pack.
7. All animals will be rehomed desexed, 1st vaccinated, microchipped and treated monthly for fleas and intestinal worms. Once the adoption is finalised, the new owners are responsible for all vaccinations and preventative treatments.
As we are run entirely of volunteers we endeavour to respond to your enquiry as soon as we can. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to hold any animals. Please only apply if you are ready to adopt now.
