About Alfie
When Alfie first arrived at the shelter, the world felt like a very big and scary place. Loud noises and sudden sounds left him terrified, and he preferred to keep himself tucked away where he felt safe. But with time, patience, and kindness, Alfie has shown just how far he can come. He's grown in confidence every day and is now ready to take the next big (and brave!) step into a loving home of his own.
Alfie is a stunning, big long-haired boy with a soft, fluffy coat to match his gentle nature. He's not the sort of cat who will rush straight into new situations - and that's perfectly okay. His future family will need to take things slowly, giving him the space and time to acclimatise at his own pace. Once he feels safe, Alfie will reward you with quiet companionship and the special bond that only comes from earning the trust of a sensitive soul.
As a long-haired gentleman, Alfie will need ongoing grooming to keep his coat healthy and tangle-free. At first, he may need time to feel comfortable with being brushed and handled, so patient, positive grooming sessions will be key to helping him learn that this can be a calm and caring experience.
Adopting a cat like Alfie is truly something special. Shy cats are often overlooked, but they have so much love to give - it just takes a little longer to see it. By choosing Alfie, you're not only gaining a beautiful companion, you're genuinely saving a life and giving him the chance to finally know what it means to feel safe and loved in a home.
Alfie is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Alfie - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
