About Sophie (Was Toast)
Hi! I'm Toast, a newbie in the SAFE program. I’ve just moved into my foster home, and will be vet checked and revaccinated soon. I bet you're wondering how I got the name Toast? It's because I absolutely LUUURV cheese--simply open a package of cheese I'll come running-- and I'll sit waiting to be given some. I especially like it already grated :)
I live with 2 kids, and I go to doggy day care once a week, so I'm definitely people, kid and dog-social. I have also lived with a cat before and probably could again with the right introductions--I wanted to play more than the cat did, but I never hurt her. I've also met chickens and kangaroos before!
I'm toilet trained to go outside, but am also trained to toilet on a mat inside when my owner had to work long hours. My owner says I'm low-energy, and food motivated. I love to ride in the car, and I know my basic commands, although I struggle to 'come' sometimes when there are interesting distractions around :)
I do have 2 medical conditions any adopter needs to consider:
1. I have a soft fatty lump. on my belly. The vet says this is from repair to an existing hernia before I came to SAFE. I probably pulled out 1 stitch while I was healing. It doesn't need any action now, but should be monitored as it might need repair when I'm older. Also, it's a simple repair, so if I need to be put under for any other reason, best to do it then as well.
2 My right rear dewclaw is seriously curved, so that it either needs removal, or to be trimmed monthly. If you remove the dew claw, you could do the hernia too :)
I'm a young, happy, well-adjusted girl who would fit in almost anywhere! SAFE is expecting multiple applications for me. If you'd like to be considered, please fill out and submit the SAFE Inc adoption application, and take the time to really tell them about yourself. They won't be calling to interview all applicants, so make sure you've told them exactly why you think you're the right match for me!
