About Gem
What can I say about Gem, this clever, active kelpie x koolie girl?
Gem has spent her life as a working dog, mainly working alongside a second dog in the yards. She understands her job, enjoys having a purpose, and would be well suited to a home that appreciates a dog with working-dog brains and enthusiasm.
Gem has a good recall, walks well on lead, and is very friendly with people. She is confident and engaged without being silly, and she’s well past the puppy stage. Around the home she settles well and sleeps quietly overnight in her raised kennel, making her an easy dog to live with.
She is great with most dogs, particularly when paired appropriately, but she can be a bit prickly with other dominant females, so sensible introductions and management are important. Gem is fine with cats and has no issues coexisting with them.
Because of her working background, Gem could absolutely go to a working home, particularly as a support or helper dog alongside another dog rather than as a sole lead dog. She still has plenty to offer in the yards while also transitioning into a more balanced lifestyle.
Gem is very friendly with children, but she can be boisterous and jumpy, so she would be better suited to a home with older kids who can handle her enthusiasm and energy.
Gem would thrive in a home that can provide structure, exercise, and engagement—whether that’s a working environment or an active rural or semi-rural home that understands working-breed dogs.
If Gem sounds like the right fit for you, we’d love to hear from you.
Gem is located in VIC.

Adoption details
To apply to adopt a dog from Dogs4Jobs, you must firstly complete our adoptions application form in full at http://dogs4jobs.com.au/adoption-form/.
You can also write out your answers and email them to dogs@dogs4jobs.com.au
*Please note, due to the high volume of applications received, we will not respond to Petrescue chat messages, or enquiries to adopt a dog. You must complete our adoptions form to be considered for the dog or pup, and we will respond to this form via our email.
We will then request to complete a yard check, or for you to send in photos of your yard showing the fencing, space, shelter and any hazards etc, to confirm it is safe and secure, as well as adequate space for a working breed dog.
Following this, we will then put you in touch with the dog/s foster carer/s that you are interested in, to chat further over the phone, about whether the dog is a good fit for your family, and vice versa. We are searching for the perfect match for each dog and their needs. We offer interstate adoption on all of our dogs.
