About Hercules (66966)
Hercules is a sweet and loving shepherd who came into GAWS as a stray. Once comfortable, he shows his playful, cheeky side and is full of joy, energy, and personality. He is also very smart, which means he learns quickly-but also knows exactly how to test boundaries!
As a working-breed dog, Hercules has plenty of drive and enthusiasm, but he can also become over-aroused and anxious at times. This may present as jumping up or nipping when he's unsure how to handle his excitement. Hercules is strong-willed and needs firm, consistent leadership from someone confident in setting and maintaining clear rules and boundaries.
Because he requires focused guidance and ongoing work around emotional regulation and energy levels, Hercules must be the only dog in the home so he can receive the dedicated attention and structure he needs. He would suit someone experienced with shepherds or similar breeds-someone committed to putting in the work, patience, and training needed to help him thrive.
Hercules will also need understanding during his initial settling-in period (approximately 6-12 weeks) as he learns new routines and builds confidence. He'd flourish in an active household where he's included as part of the family and supported through training, enrichment, and appropriate exercise. Due to his high energy and strong personality, Hercules would be best suited to a home with no children.
If you can offer Hercules consistency, leadership, patience, and love-and are ready to invest in his training and growth-this handsome hunk may be the perfect match for you!
