About Smarty
💗 Meet Smarty — Your Gentle Shadow With the Cutest Chin Rest Ever 💗
Smarty is a beautiful 6-year-old Toy Poodle who has quietly stepped into rescue life after retiring from breeding, and she is discovering just how lovely being someone’s furbaby really is.
Smarty has had her all vet work completed since coming into care, including a scale and polish to show off their pearly whites!
Weighing just 5kg, Smarty is a soft, gentle little soul with the most expressive eyes and a face that instantly melts hearts.
Smarty is mostly a calm, sedate girl who loves her naps and cuddles, but don’t be fooled — when another friendly dog is around, she lights up and happily joins in for playful zoomies through the garden. Watching her run with joy is enough to make anyone smile.
She is toilet trained but may have the occasional accident while she continues to settle, is crate trained, and is learning how exciting reminders like doggy doors can be.
Smarty is a quiet companion who prefers peace, comfort, and staying close to her people.
At home, Smarty’s favourite spot is her dog bed in the living room… although she’s also quite happy to share your bed if invited 😉. She follows her foster mum around like a little shadow, greets them warmly when they come home, and always wants to be nearby — preferably with her chin resting on something (the dog bed, the couch arm, the window sill… or you).
One of Smarty’s most endearing habits is sitting at the front window with her chin perched on the sill, patiently watching the world go by and waiting for her person to return. She’s affectionate, a little timid at times (especially around food), and thrives on reassurance, gentle praise, cuddles, and tasty treats.
Smarty is patient and tolerant during grooming, enjoys chewing on toys, and has a little bit of sass — she may politely push her nose under your hand to remind you that she would also like a pat, thank you very much if another furbaby is getting a pat.
Smarty is not cat tested.
Smarty has been around small kids and is fine however they do stress her out if they are loud and full of chaos - so we think the best option is looking for a home with kids over the age of 10 - simply just a bit calmer for her.
Smarty would suit a calm, loving home where she can be cherished, cuddled, and allowed to blossom fully into the adored companion she was always meant to be. She’s not demanding — she just wants to be close, feel safe, and love you with her whole heart.
If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle little soul who will quietly steal your heart (and your couch), Smarty might just be your perfect match 💕🐶

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 10 day trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $250) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
