About Phoebe
Phoebe, our stunning and affectionate mumma bear who is an Enligh Staffy x Lab mix weighing in at only 21 klios, is now eagerly awaiting the opportunity to find her forever home. This remarkable girl, dumped heavily pregnant, has recently completed her duties as a devoted mother, having given birth to seven healthy puppies. Throughout this time, Phoebe demonstrated exceptional maternal instincts and was truly a wonderful mum. Now that her puppies are thriving and adopted, Phoebe is ready to embark on the next chapter of her life, where she can be cherished and adored by a loving family.
Phoebe is a compact and energetic little dog, often described as a “knee-height pocket rocket.” Her delightful personality makes her the perfect companion, whether you’re seeking a cuddle buddy to snuggle with on the couch or an enthusiastic exercise partner for outdoor adventures. Her affectionate nature and energy ensure that she will bring joy and companionship to any household.
When it comes to her favorite activities, Playing ball is undoubtedly her number one passion, and she can spend hours chasing after her beloved toy. In addition to her love for ball games, Phoebe finds immense joy in chasing butterflies, flies, and occasionally even the odd bee. She thrives in open spaces where she can run freely and perform her signature “zoomies,” showcasing her agility and zest for life. Soft toys and tennis balls are not safe from her inquisitive nature, as she enjoys dissecting them with great enthusiasm.
Phoebe’s interaction with humans is nothing short of heartwarming. She adores people and is always eager to share a cuddle, often seeking out a lap to rest her head on. Her gentle demeanor makes her an ideal companion for families with children who are familiar with dogs. Phoebe’s love for ball play is another way she bonds with her human friends, and she will quickly become your best friend if you’re willing to engage in a game of fetch. Her calm and composed nature means she rarely jumps, making her a suitable addition to households with young ones.
In terms of her interactions with other animals, Phoebe is currently living harmoniously with three other dogs, each with their own unique personalities. While she may not be overly playful, she is content to be part of the pack and enjoys their company. Phoebe can become a bit excited when encountering other dogs, occasionally barking, but she generally behaves well and will leave other dogs alone, especially if a ball is involved. However, she prefers not to interact with dogs that are overly energetic or confrontational.
Phoebe has been living with a dog trainer, and her progress in training has been impressive. She has mastered several basic commands, including recall, come, sit, drop, wait, and bed. Her eagerness to learn is evident, especially when there’s the promise of ball play as a reward. Phoebe’s intelligence and willingness to please make her a joy to train, and she thrives on mental stimulation.
Exercise is an essential part of Phoebe’s routine, and she relishes the opportunity to run at full speed. Despite her enthusiasm, she always checks in and responds promptly when called. Phoebe enjoys a daily walk and periods of ball play, although her obsession with balls means these sessions are kept short to prevent overexcitement. Her favorite ball is her squeaky Kong ball, which remains intact despite her playful nature. During walks, Phoebe practices her obedience skills and can hold a down position for an impressive amount of time. Her agility and cleverness are further highlighted by her love for swimming in the local stream.
Phoebe is quite independent and can be left alone without any issues. She remains calm and rarely barks when left by herself. Interactive treat toys, such as Kongs or treat dispensers, keep her entertained and content. Whether she is on her own or accompanied by a calm and relaxed dog, Phoebe is adaptable and happy.
Inside the home, Phoebe is well-behaved, displaying a calm and gentle demeanor. She is not destructive, except when she finds a soft toy to playfully rip apart. If given access to the indoors, she knows how to use the doggy door, adding to her list of impressive skills.
When it comes to sleep, Phoebe is content to rest on her mat throughout the night. However, if you’re open to it, she would gladly snuggle up in bed with you, providing warmth and companionship.
Phoebe is fully toilet trained, making her an easy addition to any household. Her silky black short coat requires minimal grooming, and she enjoys being pampered with a good grooming session.
In terms of her diet, Phoebe is fed high-quality kibble twice a day, ensuring she receives the nutrition she needs to stay healthy and active. Phoebe will take treats gently, she enjoys fresh chicken legs, sardines, carrots, cow hooves and broccoli stalks. Outside the home she is not treat motivated.
Phoebe loves going in the car, she does get a little over excited and can whine on her way to the park. She is secured in the back with a harness and seat belt and practicing calm before getting in and out the car. She still needs a little work with her excitement.
Phoebe’s ideal home would be one that is looking for a loving yet active dog. She would thrive in an environment where she can continue her training and engage in mental stimulation games. Her love for scent work makes her an excellent candidate for activities that involve searching for her ball. A family that can provide regular walks and exercise would be perfect for Phoebe. She is however happy and content to sleep and rest when in the home We have not tested her with cats so a no cat home please
A secure home with secure fencing, a backyard, and shelter would be ideal for Phoebe. While inside access is preferred, it is not a necessity. Phoebe would make a fantastic family dog, as she enjoys spending time indoors, cuddling with her human companions, and hanging out with her people. At the same time, her independence allows her to be left alone if needed.
Phoebe is a dog that ticks many boxes, and she is definitely worth considering for anyone seeking a loyal and loving companion. Her unique combination of affectionate nature, intelligence, and playfulness makes her a truly special addition to any home.
