Zelda is a striking young Great Dane mix with a beautiful, elegant appearance and a wonderfully affectionate nature. With her long legs, soft expressive eyes, white coat, gentle ticking and distinctive patch over one eye, she is a very eye-catching girl.

At just 8 months of age, Zelda already weighs 33 kg and is expected to mature at approximately 40–45 kg. She has all the hallmarks of a young giant-breed cross: long-limbed, graceful, still growing into herself, and very much a big puppy at heart. Her colouring and finer features suggest there may also be some Pointer influence in her mix.

Zelda is friendly, people-loving and playful. She thrives on being included as part of family life and is currently living as a much-loved inside dog who sleeps with her foster dad and enjoys home cooking — so yes, she is very loved and just a little bit spoilt.

She loves cuddles, attention, playtime and being close to her humans. She also enjoys the company of other friendly dogs of all shapes and sizes, and would likely enjoy another suitable dog to romp and play with.

Zelda is house-trained, enjoys car rides, and is not destructive when left at home alone every now and then. Although she prefers company and is used to having her people around much of the time, she does not show separation anxiety when they go out, and there have been no complaints about nuisance barking.

She enjoys her daily walks, but she is understandably strong on lead and will need continued training with someone physically capable of managing a large young dog.

Zelda is confident, enthusiastic and can be a little wilful, so she needs firm, fair and consistent guidance. She is not suitable for anyone who may be physically overwhelmed by a large, strong youngster, and she is probably too big and bouncy to be a suitable companion for young children.

Like many young dogs, Zelda can still be a little mouthy during play. This is not injurious, but it is a puppy behaviour that should continue to be corrected calmly and consistently.

Zelda sits on command — mostly — and is ready to continue her training with people who understand that big puppies need clear boundaries, routine and leadership.

Great Dane mixes are often affectionate, people-focused and deeply bonded to their families. Zelda has that lovely “gentle giant in the making” quality: loving, social, a little goofy, and very eager to be part of the household.
