About Reggie

Reggie is a stunning 12-month-old long stock coat German Shepherd who is looking for a very special home. Reggie came into our care earlier this year, along with his 3 brothers, they had been neglected and isolated and were covered in scars and extremely thin. Reggie has spent the last few months in foster care at GSRV HQ learning to be brave, he is now ready to start his next chapter, finding a forever home.
Reggie is very much a one-person dog. He forms a deep bond with his chosen human and will shower that person with loyalty, affection, and love. With others, he is reserved, not aggressive, just prefers to keep his distance and avoid touch. Once he decides you’re his person, you’ll have the most devoted companion.
Reggie startles easily and takes time to recover, he will need a very patient and understanding person that will take new experiences slowly at Reggie’s pace; he has known nothing but kindness, love, and positive reinforcement whilst in our care, this must continue in his new home.
Reggie is terrified of children, we aren’t sure why, and despite his foster carer’s granddaughter trying her hardest to help Reggie feel comfortable, he avoids coming inside whenever she is over. Reggie is looking for a quiet and predictable home, without children.
Reggie loves other dogs and relies on them for company and confidence when he is feeling unsure, he must have another dog in his new home, preferably a large breed female that is happy to play chasey and rough house with him. Reggie can often be found cuddling his foster siblings, and is always influenced by what they are doing, getting into mischief together.
Reggie gets quite stressed if he is separated from his dog friend and his human at the same time, he needs a buddy at home when his human is away. Ideally Reggie would have someone home often, especially in the beginning whilst he adjusts to his new environment.
Reggie is well behaved in public and enjoys going on adventures, especially walks down by the river, he is quite social with other dogs, however he does get car sick.
Reggie has been tested with cats and chickens and mostly ignores them…unless they run, in which case he’ll give chase. Chasing wild rabbits and birds is one of his favourite pastimes.
Reggie loves to play in water, he enjoys swimming in the dam and always seems to find the 1 muddy puddle on the property, he is an active young dog that will need ongoing training along with plenty of mental enrichment and physical exercise to ensure he keeps out of mischief.
If you can offer Reggie a patient, loving home with another dog and plenty of space to play, you’ll gain an incredibly loyal friend who will love you like no other.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
