About 🪻Wisteria🪻
After five months of recovery, decompression, and simply being herself, Wisteria has shown exactly who she is. She is a stocky, pugnacious, irresistibly cute lilac British Shorthair–turned–faux Scottish Fold with an exceptionally sunny disposition. Through polyps, pneumonia, breathing difficulties, a single broken tooth, extensive medications, and her daisy collar, she has remained genuinely happy and good-natured at all times.
During her time in care, Wisteria underwent four procedures: one BOAS surgery, two Total Ear Canal Ablations, and a tooth extraction (there were no others left to remove). She has charmed every vet and nurse she has encountered and thinks they’re just there to give her lots of pats. When she arrived vets noted a heart murmur, however, since being in care this has all but disappeared. It is likely this was a result of her poor health and the strain on her body, it should be monitored in future health checks but is not likely to cause her any issues going forward. Wisteria does have arthritis in one of her elbows and has begun daily supplements to support her comfort.
Despite all of this medical information, she is now fully recovered and ready for her permanent home.
Wisteria is a complete social butterfly and is determined to be friends with everyone, including the grumpiest cat in the house. She would love friendly feline companionship in her new home as she always wants to keep the cats company. While she hasn’t lived with dogs in foster care, she may like a calm, friendly dog if introduced slowly.
As a result of the TECA procedures, Wisteria can’t hear very much. She has now discovered her voice and sings the song of her people, particularly after lights-out. Her appetite is excellent, with a strong preference for wet food over dry which make sense with her lack of teeth. She is confident and curious, never shy or fearful, and happily explores her environment, climbing onto bookcases, tables, chairs, desks, beds, and anything else she can access.
The world is Wisteria’s fun house. She delights in cat toys, ribbons, string, and any packing or wrapping paper left within reach. Recently, she has also mastered the art of flopping into an upside-down sploot and waving her paws in the air to entice you to rub her tummy.
Wisteria is an absolute delight and is ready to be the perfect addition to her new home. She is desexed, microchipped and up to date with her vaccinations and parasite treatments. Wisteria is currently in care in Melbourne CBD and is taking applications within reasonable driving distance of her foster home.
