About Doug
Doug is looking for a foster home for the Christmas period from December 20th - January 5th Or an adoptive home.
Please read the medical section
Doug requires the following in his new home:
- He isn't suited to dog parks, (he gets too excited).
- Can live with another desexed dog of similar size that is playful and tolerant Or people home more often than not.
- Owners that can give him daily eye ointment, as strictly prescribed.
- A fully fenced yard.
- To have the option of being inside when his people are home and to sleep of a night.
- Regular walks.
Doug’s first love is food. This is followed very closely by his people. Doug loves to wrestle and play. His walks are very important to him and he loves to sniff everything he can.
Everyone Doug meets is a friend. He greets all humans big and small with a smiley face and a wet tongue! Even visitors are welcome and he instantly greets anyone who walks through the door. His foster family includes two kids, 10 and 12 and he has shown them nothing but love and a want for cuddles and love back. He is still young so does have some puppy habits but he is smart so if taught something he is quick to learn.
He currently lives with a cavoodle of similar size to him which he tries to dominate. They often wrestle and both dogs are never shy to tell the other what it thinks. They enjoy each others company and they sleep together in the laundry at night. Doug is toilet trained however if his routine changes he can pee in the house to let you know he is out of sorts.
When out on walks Doug is very enthusiastic when he meets other dogs. He prefers similar sized dogs to himself. He is getting better on a general walk at passing dogs and getting told to ‘leave it’ and keep walking. As long as there is enough distance between dogs there is no problems. With a slow introduction and positive guidance he is getting better with new dogs.
Doug can sit and stay and he knows what you want from him, however he has no recall at the moment, he finds the outside world way too interesting!
Doug loves a car ride and travels with ease.
