About Bear
Sassy and Bear are two very scared and shy kittens who came into care as tiny little things. They spent time in foster care where they were able to grow their confidence in a calm, safe environment. Unfortunately, shelter life has been a bit too overwhelming for them, and they've regressed slightly with all the noise, activity and unfamiliar faces.
These two are not "instant confidence" kittens, but they are full of potential. With patience, consistency and kindness, Sassy and Bear will continue to build on the progress they've already made. We are incredibly keen to see them move into quiet, understanding homes where their confidence and socialisation can be nurtured at their own pace.
Shy kittens do best when introduced slowly. A small, quiet room to start with, predictable routines, gentle interaction and allowing them to choose when to engage will help them feel safe. Sitting quietly, offering treats, playing with wand toys and avoiding forced handling are all important steps in helping them learn that people can be trusted. Kittens need time, patience and daily positive interactions to grow into confident adults. They require regular feeding, enrichment through play, safe spaces to hide and rest, and ongoing socialisation. Consistency is key - the more calm and predictable their environment, the more secure they will feel.
Sassy and Bear would suit adopters (they do not need to be adopted together) who understand that confidence isn't built overnight and who are happy to celebrate the small wins along the way. Watching scared kittens learn to trust is incredibly rewarding, and with the right support, these two will continue to blossom.
