About Nicky (female)
Nicky would be best suited to a home with at least one other small, friendly, playful dog who is open to cuddling on the couch.
Nicky maybe small in stature but she has a heart full of love. Weighing in at just 7 kg, Nicky might be small, but she is packed with personality. This playful little girl thrives in a quiet home environment where she can have plenty of walks and tons of
cuddles. Her new owner will need to be a little bit patient as it may take her a little time to completely warm up and reveal her lively nature. Once she is settled in, get ready forNicky cuddle time!!
Her ideal home would be a house with a garden as she loves to spend some time during the day sniffing in the garden or courtyard.
Nicky is a typical couch companion who relishes belly rubs while you catch up on your favourite shows, and she should be allowed on the couch for those cozy moments. Nicky must have access inside and out of the home at all times, and be allowed to
sleep inside at night, preferably in the bedroom near or even on the bed as this is what she is used to in her foster home.
Nicky learnt how to use the doggy door on her first day in her foster home and is now allowed free range of her foster home. Her next home will be a new environment for her so her family will have to set her up to succeed with housetraining in their environment using only reward-based training methods. As expected in a new
environment she only marked her territory once on her first day and always goes outside first thing every morning.
One of the most heartwarming things about Nicky is her love for companionship. She enjoys the company of another small, friendly dog or two who can share in her adventures and keep her entertained. Nicky has shown a fondness for beach outings
and leash-free dog parks, though she does display some timidity around larger dogs, so care does need to be given to prevent her from becoming overwhelmed in situations where there are larger dogs running around.
Her ideal home would be with someone who shares a love for exploration, as she’s quite the travel enthusiast, sitting comfortably and quietly in the car, whether headed for a day out or sitting quietly at a café.
Her recall is a work in progress, but she is eager to learn, being already praised as a “good girl” during training sessions.
After a settling period, Nicky has no signs of separation anxiety when left with other dogs for a few hours, proving her to be both independent and adaptable. She is not a barker but does get excited when her humans return and she will expect a treat or
two.
With a gentle and shy nature, Nicky is indeed special. She is particularly fond of gentle children and loves to cuddle next to her carer's 10-year-old granddaughter, always ready to receive belly rubs and snuggles. Nicky may be suited to a home with children if they were reasonably calm, gentle and respectful of animals and the home was suited in all other respects.
If you can provide a calm, loving environment with oodles of attention and another dog for her to befriend, Nicky is ready to be the affectionate, cuddly companion you've been looking for.
Please send an informative email to us about your family, lifestyle and existing dog so we can see if you and Nicky are a good match.
