About Sadie
Stumpy is a sweet-natured but timid little lady. She has been quite nervous since coming into care, though she is slowly building bonds with the people she sees daily. We recommend taking things slowly and keeping all experiences positive. Stumpy may benefit from crate training as it can offer a safe retreat when she feels worried or overwhelmed; however, she was previously kept in a small crate before being surrendered, so never force her into one-let her choose. We recommend having someone home for the first few days to a week to help her settle and build trust. She has shown some stress when left alone, so gradually practise short absences. Stumpy has been unsure about toys in the shelter and may still be learning what they are; once settled, her fun and cheeky side may emerge.
Walking on lead is very scary for her. Build confidence inside the home first, then progress slowly-driveway, neighbour's house, and so on-always keeping sessions calm and fear-free.
Teens in the home must meet her and be involved in ongoing training and understanding basic dog body language.
