About Hank
Meet Hank – your long, low little shadow
Hank is a young dog with a sweet nature, a big heart, and the classic “little dog with big feelings” personality. He’s well-socialised with people of all ages and other dogs, and absolutely DOTES on kids. He has lived happily alongside canine friends in the past.
Hank is a cuddly, friendly boy who wants nothing more than to be close to his person. He forms strong attachments and will Velcro himself to the person he chooses as “his human.” With that devotion comes some separation anxiety, and Hank finds it hard to cope when left alone for more than a few hours. He barks a lot when anxious and will need a home where someone is around more often than not, or where he has another chilled dog for company.
Our trainer describes him as naturally anxious but curious, and a dog who freezes with direct petting—so he’ll benefit from gentle, pressure-free handling as he learns to relax and trust. He doesn’t show much interest in toys but loves food, so food-based enrichment and puzzle games will be especially helpful in giving him an outlet for his clever little working-breed brain. With time, structure and patience, Hank’s barking can improve—he’s persistent, but also very trainable for someone committed to the work.
Hank is low-energy overall and enjoys his nightly walk. He’s toilet trained, walks well on lead, has good recall, and knows “sit.” He’s friendly when meeting new dogs and people, both at home and out and about, and is simply happiest in a quiet, stable home that understands sensitive dogs.
Hank needs a household that can offer a lot of company, a calm routine, and positive-based training to help him build confidence. If you’re looking for a sweet little companion who will adore you completely, and you’re ready to help him feel safe and secure in the world, Hank just might be your guy.
