About Mario
You haven't lived unless you have loved and been loved by a senior pug!
At 12 years old, Mario knows exactly what he loves: the finer things in life. A soft, supportive bed, the bliss of air-conditioning, gentle meals, and calm human company are what truly make his tail wag. He’s toilet trained and tries very hard to get outside—but every now and then, you might still find a little “gumnut” left behind.
Recently Mario underwent BOAS surgery o help him breath with a bit more ease and he's feeling like a whole new man, actually wanting to get out and about (albeit not far) and has a bit more pep in his step.
🏡 Mario’s Ideal Home
Mario would thrive in a peaceful, steady home with easy inside/outside access. Because he is deaf, sudden movements or too much activity can startle him, so a quieter environment suits him best. Senior pugs often need a little extra TLC—cool temperatures, soft bedding, and gentle handling—and Mario is no exception. He’s happiest when he feels safe, comfortable, and cared for.
⚡ Mario’s Energy Level
Mario’s brain has far more enthusiasm than his body these days. He gets excited at the idea of a walk, but a slow potter up the street and back is the perfect outing for him. Pop him in a pram, though, and he’ll happily join you wherever you want to go, taking in the world like a happily chauffeured king.
👦 Suitability to Children
Mario values having his own quiet space to feel comfortable. Because he can be easily startled and prefers gentle interactions, a home without young children is most suitable. Older, respectful, dog-savvy kids may be fine.
🐶 Suitability to Other Dogs & Cats
Mario is slow-moving and prefers calm companions. Energetic or boisterous dogs can make him feel the need to protect his body, but he’s perfectly content around settled, gentle dogs. He can also coexist with relaxed, easygoing cats.
Sometimes when Mario sneezes… he farts. 💨
He offers no apology—and honestly, it just adds to his charm.
Mario is ready for a family who will celebrate his golden years, wrap him in comfort, and give him all the gentle love he’s been waiting for.

All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
